Leon Oosterwijk just posted a new link on an older posting of mine, so I thought I would post it as it's own blog posting so it isn't missed.

Leon has started a new Open Source project for ColdFusion IM Gateways. Right now It has 3 IM gateways for ColdFusion; Yahoo, AOL, and MSN networks. I'm sure more will follow.

IM Gateways Project

CFDJ Event Gateway Article

You've heard about the new Event Gateway feature in ColdFusion 7. Perhaps you know how you'll use this new feature, perhaps you don't. Maybe you?re just curious about what is now possible.

To help with this question, I wrote this article for CFDJ to do a little brainstorming about this new feature and what's possible with Event Gateways and ColdFusion 7. I also wanted to show that ColdFusion is no longer just a web application server instead it is now an internet application server.

Do you like this concept? Should I make "Brainstorming with nimer" a semi-regular column? Any ideas about what I should brainstorm about next time?

Connecting CF to Other IM Networks

Scott at Boyzoid has posted an example of using the CFMX7 XMPP IM gateway to talk to the other IM networks, through your xmpp account. Check it out here

At the same time if you'd like to connect directly to these networks, the folks over at Zion Software have a CFMX7 IM Event Gateway that will connect directly to other networks.
